Python Job Details

As a Technical Assistant (TA) you will perform a variety of tasks to ensure the smooth running of the pipeline. You'll provide face-to-face support for artists, troubleshoot production issues, and provide quality control for publishes and renders. You will also work closely with Technical Directors to develop efficiencies and workflows.

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to develop your technical skills in an entry-level position and gain experience in the Visual Effects industry. You will be exposed to our pipeline and will be involved in the production of exceptional VFX and animation. This role opens up opportunities to progress through different departments across the company.

You will:

  • Trouble shoot day to day issues raised by artists
  • Provide solutions to problems through existing tools
  • Assist with the QC process of shots and data moving between departments
  • Monitor publishes, render farm, disk usage, and file transfers between sites
  • Understand the processes of adjoining departments and provide input where required to maximise efficiency and quality
  • Contribute to testing and feedback for software releases from the Pipeline team
  • Create and update documentation that supports the Technical Assistant processes

As well as being able to learn quickly on the job and use your eagle-eyed attention to detail, you will need to be an excellent communicator - your ability to accurately and succinctly communicate problems between TDs and artists will help you thrive in this role.

About You:

  • A degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Pro-active problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail
  • An adaptable approach with the ability to balance your workload and the needs of artists, and production deadlines
  • The ability to efficiently organise and prioritise work across multiple areas, and remain calm under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate in both a technical and artistic manner
  • Willing to learn and contribute to the success of the team and project
  • Experience supporting artists in a production environment

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Maya, Houdini, or Nuke
  • Previous work experience in Visual Effects, Games or another related industry
  • Understanding of the Visual Effects production processes and applicable tools
  • Programming experience in Python is a bonus
